Introduction To DDA Handrails
The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) rightly places equality of access high on the agenda for managers or designers of buildings across the UK. Ensuring access routes in and around your building are accessible is a key part of meeting the DDA, and requirements for appropriate handrails are included in Part M of the Building Regulations. Our simple, easy-to-assemble DDA Handrail Kits provide one of the cheapest options for a complete solution for your DDA handrail requirements and require no welding or pre-fabrication. If you need guidance about how to design & install these systems on site, you have come to the right place. We have tried to highlight the main design considerations below, however the easiest way to learn more about or order our Alvin Disability Handrail is to email us drawings and/or photos of your site and one of our friendly experts would be happy to help you to design your system.
We have written a one page guide to the key points of Part M, which you can read here: DDA Part M guide
Our galvanised steel DDA handrail provides a smooth, continuous finish, one of the primary requirements of Part M. Our system can easily handle variable gradients, direction changes, stairs and ramps. Inherent flexibility within the fittings mean that you can accommodate a lot of changes on site without needing to order additional parts. You don’t even need millimetre accurate designs before placing the order as our DDA Key Clamps leave you able to make adjustments & alterations as you assemble.
To see just how straight forward our disabled access handrails are to install please read our assembly guide below
