If you are looking to provide a safe means of access over obstructions on roofs such as pipework, plant equipment or conduits, look no further than Alvin Stepovers. These units are available in two different styles, the Mini Stepover provides a single step up to a short platform intended to cross small obstacles such as cable tray or small pipes. The larger Stepovers can span objects from 600mm up to 1400mm high and provide a full double guardrail on each side. All stepover models are available as a freestanding unit with weighted PVC bases, requiring no roof penetration whatsoever, or as a bolt-down option where the PVC bases are replaced with our A12 bolt-down baseplates.
Both systems are made with reinforced nylon treads with aluminium fixing rail attached to a framemade with standard Alvin Key Clamps and steel tube. Freestanding models feature 26kg weighted PVC bases. This also means that spare parts are readily available should you need to repair or modify an existing unit.
Both the full size Stepovers as well as the Mini Stepover variant are available part assembled in flat-pack kit format and supplied with full assembly instructions to allow quick and easy installation, no expert training is required. This means stepovers can be transported via The Pallet Network, leading to fast and economical delivery options.

Stepovers are suitable for a variety of roof types including concrete, membrane, metallic and composite. Choosing the freestanding or bolt-down variant will depend upon your roof type. Stepovers are not just for exterior use however, as they can also be installed inside warehouses and factoriesfor access overbuilding utilities as well as machinery and conveyers.
Stepovers are compliant with BS EN 14122 Part 3 "Permanent means of access to machinery — Part 3: Stairs, stepladders and guard-rails”
Mini Stepovers comply with BS EN 516 class 1-C.
Compliance is tested by applying two proof loads to sample units of each size. A 1.5kN load applied to a 100mm by 100mm square of the walking surface must not cause excessive deflection. A second load of 2.6kN is applied to the same area and this must not leave significant residual deflection. Deflection is measured to the millimetre using a wire transducer.
