Alvin Modular Ramp System
The quickest & easiest way to find out more about Alvin Stepover systems and the standards they comply to is by speaking to one of our friendly experts either by phone on 0208 254 2626, by email at Sales@AlvinKeyClamp.co.uk , or by using the LiveChat in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Inclusivity should be at the heart of how a modern organisation operates, and this includes making sure your building is accessible for all. Since it’s introduction in 1995 the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) has driven significant improvements across the built environment, however one of the major obstacles to building access has been the issue of amendments to existing buildings. These older structures were often designed with little or no regard for the less able amongst us.
Often, there is good intention amongst building managers, but they are constrained by overbearing planning laws, or simply poor building design, from making the reasonable adjustments outlined in the DDA.
Finally we at Alvin Key Clamp are able to offer a product that can adapt to existing buildings and make a real and positive difference to the users of your building, without a bag of cement in sight.
Alvin Modular DDA Ramp systems can adapt to most forms of existing entrance. Capable of bridging over existing steps and even small retaining walls, a robust, safe and affordable solution can be installed within days when a comparable concrete and brick structure might take weeks or months and involve significant earthworks.
Our Ramps are specified in sections up to your desired entrance height and are adjustable on site to ensure a millimetre perfect fit. Additional options include a step module and various landings to suit the shape of your building. Using the existing Alvin DDA range of fittings, these systems provide a DDA and Part M compliant handrail with the option for a second lower rail (sometimes called a Childrail).
All of the components are hot-dip galvanised in the factory before being powder coated to a colour of your choice. This provides a durable finish that will outlive timber ramp/handrail systems while requiring almost no maintenance. The handrails can be coated in a contrasting colour to ensure compliance, leaving you to pick a colour for the structural elements to best compliment your building or corporate colours. You may even find that the standard galvanised finish is sufficient for all but the handrail itself, offering the most cost effective solution without compromising compliance or safety.
Entirely free-standing, the only fixings to the ground are bolts to stop any lateral movement, this importantly means that the ramp can be removed either permanently due to a change of use or even temporarily to make way for a large delivery or building project.
The GRP flooring has integral grit finish to the walking surface as well as drainage holes to prevent water or ice build-up. Contrasting colours can be used to demark landing areas for the partially sighted and the system is available in 1200mm or 1500mm widths.
At present these systems are available by requesting a quote from our sales office either by email or telephone on 020 8254 2626. We are also looking for case studies to follow through the design and implementation stages so do please get in touch with us, even if you haven’t found a product to suit your building in the past. All we need are some basic dimensions plus a few photos of the site and we can guide you through the rest of the process.
